How to save on banking

I needed an account that I could put a little extra aside and I didn't want to pay a monthly fee. Washington Mutual has a free checking account that I have now had for a few years and I love it. I don't have to worry if there is enough money in the account or if I am in between jobs with no direct deposits. WaMu has internet banking and electronic statements available.
